Expo Georgia
Tblisi, Georgia
Developed with Counts Studio, Brooklyn, NY
Expo Georgia reimagines a historic Soviet-era exhibition complex as a contemporary convention and cultural campus while preserving the distinctive elements of its past. The landscape works with existing exhibition pavilions, mature trees, civic spaces, and Soviet-era art and sculpture, integrating them with a new convention center, parking structure, and expanded event program. A series of overlapping loops forms the primary organizing structure, weaving through the orthogonal framework of the existing complex to create a dynamic system of paths, spaces, and connections. New event lawns, plazas, civic steps, terraces, gardens, and gathering spaces introduce a contemporary layer of public life while incorporating existing trees and cultural artifacts. The result transforms disparate spaces into a unified campus where new interventions feel naturally embedded within the historic landscape, giving Expo Georgia a renewed identity while preserving the character and memory of the site.
