National Competition Winner

Jacksonville Riverfront Plaza transforms the former Jacksonville Landing site into a major civic landscape reconnecting downtown Jacksonville with the St. Johns River. The competition-winning design was conceived as “One Park Jax,” creating an inclusive waterfront destination for the city. The park is organized around a central lawn, destination playground, river terraces, pavilion, gardens, public art, and pedestrian connections that draw people from downtown toward the waterfront. Extensive public engagement helped shape priorities for shade, resiliency, recreation, art, gathering, and access to the river. The landscape creates a sequence of distinct experiences that bring the energy of downtown directly to the water’s edge. With a current construction budget of approximately $40 million, the project transforms a former commercial site into a resilient and enduring civic landscape for everyday life, community events, and a renewed connection to the river.
